VGI will be responsible for the Gauteng West and North West MTN sites which is estimated at approximately 600 sites. The engineering scope is the detail layout of the sites, geotechnical survey, quality assurance and as built documentation for each of the sites. DETAIL ENGINEERING REVIEW AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT OF ROMPCO HIGH PRESSURE GAS PIPELINE (LOOP LINE 2)

Following the success that VGI had in the design and construction management of the 145 km, 26 inch diameter, high pressure gas pipeline (GNP) between the Secunda and Sasol Factories, Sasol South Africa, on behalf of the Republic of Mozambique Pipeline Investment Company (ROMPCO), appointed VGI Consulting Africa (an affiliate of VGI Consulting Inc) for the design review and construction management of the second Loop Line of the existing Mozambique to Secunda Pipeline (MSP). This 26 inch, 127 km long, pipeline crosses the Gaza and Inhambane provinces in Mozambique. The Loop Lines are required to increase the capacity of the MSP Pipeline feeding natural gas from Temane and Pande gas fields in Mozambique to South Africa. The MSP Pipeline’s importance to South Africa is not often realized but the gas from this pipeline has an immense importance to the commercial hub (Gauteng) of South Africa as it is the major source of energy to both industrial, commercial and domestic heating requirements. Except for the importance to Gauteng it also forms the feedstock for the gas to liquids plants and chemical plants of Sasol in Secunda and Sasolburg as well large industries such as ArcelorMittal and other foundries near Sasolburg.

PPA Flowline Pigging Project in Mozambique

The EPCM Contract for the Flowline Pigging Project for Sasol Petroleum Temane (SPT) was awarded to VGI Consulting Africa Limitada, a full affiliate of VGI Consulting (Pty) Ltd.  As previously, VGI Consulting (South Africa) will provide expertize and backup to VGI Africa (Mozambique) for the project to ensure that the required high standards of Sasol are met. The project entails the establishment of pigging facilities for the gathering lines from the individual wellheads to the field manifolds and central process unit in Temane and Pande (Mozambique).  The project will install interchangeable pig launchers and receivers for the intelligent pigging of the existing gathering lines.  A specific challenge for the project will be the short period during the shutdown available for re-configuring of existing piping on some of the manifolds and wellheads.
