DESCRIPTION

The International Buddhist Association wanted to construct a Buddhist temple in Africa and they decided to build it in South Africa. VGI Consulting did the structural design of the reinforced concrete structures.

MOBILE PHONE MAST PROJECT

VGI Consulting has been involved with Mobile Phone Mast installations since May 2015.   Mobile Phone Masts are also known as Cell Towers or Base Stations. VGI Consulting is involved with the Design and Construction Monitoring of the following types of Mobile Phone Masts:

• New Tower (Green Fields)
  • Lattice towers – tallest to date 54 m
  • Monopole masts – tallest to date 35 m
• Rooftop Sites
  • New installations
  • Upgrading of existing installations

During the design phase for Greenfields Sites, VGI performs a site survey verifying the site coordinates and soil conditions. Based on the information obtained, the detailed design and construction drawings is prepared and issued to the client to appoint a construction contractor. During construction, VGI performs several site inspections to verify the quality of the work. A Completion Certificate and As Built Drawings is also issued.

For Rooftop Sites substantial emphasizes are placed on the integrity of the existing structure identified for the Mast installations. The structure is analysed to determine if the additional loads can be applied before the installation proceeds.
